In September 2026 Dulux presented Soulful Sage™ as Colour of the Year 2027: a soft, radiant green, chosen because green brings calm and balance to the home. Walls get this colour first. The staircase is where the colour then becomes tangible — not as paint, but as terrazzo or stone just 4.3 mm thin.

Which staircase goes with a Soulful Sage wall?
The staircase does not have to be the same colour as the wall. Four combinations that work:
Tone-on-tone
A staircase in the same sage green family as the wall. The hallway becomes one calm whole; the terrazzo fleck keeps it from looking flat.
Quiet contrast
A light stone such as Ivory Cream or a soft Stone Blend shade. The wall carries the colour, the staircase keeps the light.
Warm combination
Sage green next to oak, beige or sand: Crystal Sand or Golden Grain. Natural and timeless.
Stronger accent
A dark terrazzo such as Graphite Blend or Obsidian Black. Graphic, for those who see the staircase as a piece of furniture.

How to get a green staircase
Have it fitted

Yes. The sample box brings you real samples of the Stone, Stone Blend and Terrazzo collections. The new sage green shade is about to come out of production and is not in the box yet. Yes. The overlay treads go over wooden, concrete and painted staircases, including narrow and older staircases and winder treads. There is no need to shorten the nosings; your existing staircase remains the base. An Omnistair dealer assesses your staircase beforehand.
In daylight the shade looks fresher and lighter; under warm artificial light it looks warmer and deeper. The terrazzo fleck keeps the tread lively in both situations. That is why a colour sample in your own hallway is the only reliable test.
Very well. Sage green and oak are natural neighbours: the green becomes warmer through the wood, the wood calmer through the green. With a dark floor, choose a slightly lighter shade on the staircase so the hallway stays open.
