Frequently asked questions
Yes, GripStep Home is specially designed for half-moon shapes and other common staircase forms found in homes. Thanks to the compact format and self-adhesive installation, the elements can be easily placed on existing treads.
GripStep Home is developed for simple self-installation. The elements are self-adhesive and can be applied directly to existing wooden, concrete, or painted staircases without major renovation work.
No, GripStep Home is placed directly over the existing staircase. No chipping, breaking, or demolition work is needed, allowing the stairs to be made safer quickly.
GripStep Home features an integrated anti-slip structure that provides extra grip while climbing stairs. This helps reduce slipping, even with socks, children, or pets in the house.
Yes, GripStep Home is developed as an accessible alternative to a complete staircase renovation. You add extra grip and a refreshed appearance without major renovation or lengthy work.
GripStep Home is suitable for wooden, concrete, and painted staircases. The system is widely used on half-moon staircases, but is also suitable for other common staircase forms.
GripStep Home can generally be installed within a short time. Thanks to the self-adhesive installation and the absence of drying times, the staircase is almost immediately safe to use again.
This is mainly a matter of appearance. With nosing, the front edge of the tread is extra protected — useful if you'd rather cover that edge too. Without nosing, the shape stays sleeker and more subtle.
GripStep Home can be applied to smooth, solid surfaces, such as wood, concrete and painted staircases. For good adhesion, the surface is first thoroughly degreased. In a damp space, we recommend mounting kit installation instead of double-sided tape alone — if in doubt, get in touch and we'll advise on the right method for your situation.
Yes, GripStep Home can be removed later. Any adhesive residue can generally be cleaned off. The end result partly depends on the condition and finish of the existing stair tread.
GripStep focuses on extra grip and a sleek finish, and is applied self-adhesively. Carpet offers a softer feel underfoot and sound dampening, but is less suitable for damp spaces. Tread plate is robust and industrial, but less fitting for a home environment. PVC is practical and functional, with an appearance that depends on the chosen design. GripStep stands out through the combination of grip, a calm appearance and easy, tool-free installation.
For families, parents of young children, and older adults who want their staircase to be safe every day. Suitable for painted and existing staircases.
