What does a stair renovation cost?
Honest price guidance for every level — from anti-slip alone to a completely new staircase in natural stone composite.
For a standard closed staircase of thirteen steps, Omnistair price indications run from around €2,500 for EverStep treads to around €3,570 for a complete Signature finish, including VAT. If you simply want a safer staircase, that starts at €585. Below you will find what each option includes. Prices shown apply to the Dutch market and include Dutch VAT.
Four ways to renovate your staircase

Anti-slip elements in natural stone composite that you apply yourself to the existing treads. No dismantling, no professional required, finished in an afternoon. Often chosen for the upstairs landing, in the same colour as the staircase below. Price for thirteen steps, straight model.
EverStep treads with painted risers — from €2,500
The walking surfaces are renewed with EverStep overlay treads in natural stone composite. The existing risers are finished in a matching colour, but not clad in natural stone composite. A combination that is often chosen and that lightens the staircase. Stair nosings do not need to be shortened.
EverStep complete — treads and risers, from €2,950
Both tread and riser in natural stone composite. One continuous material from top to bottom, in fifteen colours across Stone Naturel, Stone Blend and Terrazzo.
Signature — the whole staircase seamlessly finished, from €3,570
The entire staircase is built up on site and seamlessly finished. Colour composed entirely to measure. Stringers, handrail and balustrade can be included in the same finish.

What does a stair renovation with 8 to 15 steps cost?
The number of steps is the largest factor in the price. Below is the recommended material price for EverStep overlay treads up to 108 cm, including VAT.
8 steps — €1,240
9 steps — €1,395
10 steps — €1,550
11 steps — €1,705
12 steps — €1,860
13 steps — €2,015
14 steps — €2,170

This covers material only. Measuring, preparation, installation and additional finishing are calculated separately by your dealer. For treads up to 150 cm, €205 per step applies instead of €155.
An open staircase costs more
On an open staircase the treads are visible from above and below. If they are finished all round, that requires twice the material and considerably more labour. An open staircase of thirteen steps comes to around €6,300 including VAT with Signature.
There is another option: renew only the top of the treads with EverStep. The existing tread then remains visible from below, and the price comes to around €2,500. Many people choose this when the staircase is barely visible from underneath anyway.
What determines the price
Alongside the number of steps, width matters: treads over 108 cm require a larger size. A quarter turn or double quarter turn involves more work than a straight staircase, because angled treads are added. The condition of the existing staircase counts too: treads that creak or have come loose are secured first, and damage is repaired before anything is applied over it.
You also decide how far the renovation goes. Treads only, or risers as well. With or without side panels. Handrail and balustrade included or not. Every choice changes the amount.
What is not included
The amounts shown apply to a standard staircase in normal condition. Repair work, side panels, handrail work and lighting are calculated separately. Unusual situations — a spiral staircase, a stairwell that is difficult to reach, or treads wider than standard — also require their own calculation.

Why do stair renovation quotations vary so much?
Because they rarely contain the same things. One quotation covers only the treads, another includes preparation, risers and side finishing. Always ask what exactly is included — only then are you comparing like with like.
Are prices inclusive of VAT?
Yes, all amounts shown include VAT. For homes older than two years, a reduced VAT rate may apply to part of the work. The executing party accounts for this in the quotation.
