What does a stair renovation cost on average?
According to public Dutch price guides, a professional renovation of an average staircase of 12 to 13 steps in PVC, laminate or wood costs €1,300 to €3,500, including installation and VAT.
A closed, straight staircase in terrazzo or stone 4.3 mm thin costs from €2,640 for 12 steps, installation and VAT included — in genuine natural stone composite: colour, structure and anti-slip run through the entire material, and the nosing is one piece with the tread. All prices apply to the Dutch market and include 21% Dutch VAT.
What does each option cost?
Closed, straight staircase of 12 steps up to 108 cm wide. All amounts are all-in per step, including installation and VAT, valid until 31 December 2026. For overlay treads that is €155 for the tread plus an indication of around €65 for installation. The exact installation cost comes from your local dealer, who sets a fixed price after seeing photos or measuring. A complete, seamless finish of the whole staircase is built to measure; its price is on request.

What does renovating an open staircase cost?
Top side of the treads only, in terrazzo or stone 4.3 mm thin: the same price as a closed staircase, so from €2,640 for 12 steps, installation included. Would you like the staircase seamless all round, including the underside and the sides? That depends on the sides and how accessible they are. Send a few photos for an indication within two working days; the fixed price follows after measuring.
What does a staircase with a turn cost?
A straight staircase is the most economical. With a quarter turn or winding staircase, the angled treads are measured and made separately. Your dealer states the surcharge after measuring.
Do it yourself or have it done?
Anti-slip in terrazzo or stone you apply yourself: from €45 per step (straight, without nosing), €55 for a half-moon and €79.95 with nosing. Overlay treads, risers and a seamless finish are fitted by a dealer.
What is not included
The starting prices apply to a standard staircase in normal condition. Travel, repairs to the existing staircase, stringers, handrail work and lighting are quoted separately by your dealer. All colours of the three collections cost the same — including your own mix from the colour mixer.
