What does "patented system" mean at Omnistair?

Omnistair is the only patented system in recycled natural stone composite in the world. That is a big statement, and precisely for that reason we explain it here in full: what a patent does and does not mean, how it differs from a registered design, and what it concretely gives you — whether you are having a staircase renovated or working with the system as a dealer.

Patent: protection of the technology

A patent protects a technical invention: the way something works. For the Omnistair overlay tread system, the patent has been granted, preceded by the mandatory prior-art examination. The patent protects the invention as described in the patent claims: the combination of the ultra-thin natural stone composite profile with integrated stair nosing as a renovation system.

Registered design: protection of the appearance

Alongside the patent, the design is registered. Where a patent protects the technology, a design registration protects the appearance: what the product looks like. The combination of both means that both the working and the appearance of the system are secured — a double protection that is rare in the stair renovation market.

Exclusive production: one controlled source

The third layer is production exclusivity: the system is produced under exclusive agreements for Omnistair. The same Omnistair system is therefore not offered through other channels or under other brand names. Anyone with an Omnistair system on their staircase has the original from one production chain. Other stair renovation systems do of course exist — but they differ from Omnistair in material, construction and protection.

What it gives you as a consumer

For a homeowner this means certainty about origin and continuity. The installed system comes from one controlled source, with a fixed material composition and fixed quality control. An offer that looks like Omnistair is not Omnistair: the same system cannot be obtained through any other route.

What it means for dealers and projects

For dealers, the protection is market protection: those who carry the system do not compete with identical products through other channels. For project parties it means that the functional and technical performance of the system can be clearly described in a specification; where procurement law applies, the rules on equivalence naturally apply.
